Constant error in SCCM 2007. Message ID 5436
Hi all. Recently I took over SCCM in my organisation. The problem I keep constantly getting in site status is Message ID 5436. Description: MP Control Manager detected management point is not responding to HTTP requests. The HTTP status code and text is 500. Internal Server Error. Here's what the MPcontrollog says: Call to HttpSendRequestSync failed for port 80 with status code 500, text: Internal Server Error $$<SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER><Thu Apr 26 11:13:34.432 2012 GMT Daylight Time><thread=8068 (0x1F84)> Http test request failed, status code is 500, 'Internal Server Error'.~ $$<SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER><Thu Apr 26 11:13:34.434 2012 GMT Daylight Time><thread=8068 (0x1F84)> Successfully performed Management Point availability check against local computer.~ $$<SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER><Thu Apr 26 11:13:34.434 2012 GMT Daylight Time><thread=8068 (0x1F84)> Call to HttpSendRequestSync succeeded for port 80 with status code 200, text: OK $$<SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER><Thu Apr 26 11:13:34.450 2012 GMT Daylight Time><thread=8068 (0x1F84)> Http test request succeeded.~ $$<SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER><Thu Apr 26 11:13:34.451 2012 GMT Daylight Time><thread=8068 (0x1F84)> Successfully performed Device Management Point availability check against local computer.~ $$<SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER><Thu Apr 26 11:13:34.452 2012 GMT Daylight Time><thread=8068 (0x1F84)> Call to HttpSendRequestSync failed for port 80 with status code 500, text: Internal Server Error $$<SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER><Thu Apr 26 11:18:34.444 2012 GMT Daylight Time><thread=8068 (0x1F84)> Http test request failed, status code is 500, 'Internal Server Error'.~ $$<SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER><Thu Apr 26 11:18:34.445 2012 GMT Daylight Time><thread=8068 (0x1F84)> Successfully performed Management Point availability check against local computer.~ $$<SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER><Thu Apr 26 11:18:34.445 2012 GMT Daylight Time><thread=8068 (0x1F84)> Call to HttpSendRequestSync succeeded for port 80 with status code 200, text: OK $$<SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER><Thu Apr 26 11:18:34.460 2012 GMT Daylight Time><thread=8068 (0x1F84)> Http test request succeeded.~ $$<SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER><Thu Apr 26 11:18:34.461 2012 GMT Daylight Time><thread=8068 (0x1F84)> Successfully performed Device Management Point availability check against local computer.~ $$<SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER><Thu Apr 26 11:18:34.462 2012 GMT Daylight Time><thread=8068 (0x1F84)> Call to HttpSendRequestSync failed for port 80 with status code 500, text: Internal Server Error $$<SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER><Thu Apr 26 11:23:34.455 2012 GMT Daylight Time><thread=8068 (0x1F84)> Http test request failed, status code is 500, 'Internal Server Error'.~ $$<SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER><Thu Apr 26 11:23:34.457 2012 GMT Daylight Time><thread=8068 (0x1F84)> Successfully performed Management Point availability check against local computer.~ $$<SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER><Thu Apr 26 11:23:34.457 2012 GMT Daylight Time><thread=8068 (0x1F84)> Call to HttpSendRequestSync succeeded for port 80 with status code 200, text: OK $$<SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER><Thu Apr 26 11:23:34.473 2012 GMT Daylight Time><thread=8068 (0x1F84)> Http test request succeeded.~ $$<SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER><Thu Apr 26 11:23:34.475 2012 GMT Daylight Time><thread=8068 (0x1F84)> Successfully performed Device Management Point availability check against local computer.~ $$<SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER><Thu Apr 26 11:23:34.475 2012 GMT Daylight Time><thread=8068 (0x1F84)> I tried the following: %SYSTEMDRIVE%\inetpub\adminscripts\adsutil.vbs SET W3SVC/AppPools/Enable32bitAppOnWin64 0 it set the Enable32BitAppOnWin64 to false. the ran the IIS reset command any other suggestions will be really helpful. Not sure why you ran that command ... It does look something has gone wrong with your MP though. MPs are completely stateless though so the first I would do, even though it sounds a bit drastic, is to remove the MP, wait about 30 minutes, and then reinstall it. Are you managing mobile devices; e.g., Windows Mobile 6, Windows CE? If not, you should remove the device management point also as there is no need for it.Jason | http://blog.configmgrftw.com | Twitter @JasonSandys

Thanks for the quick reply. We are not managing any mobile devices, so i'll remove that check box, but before doing that I'll remove the MP role and reinstall it. Will keep you informed Thanks for your time.

Hi Jason, I tried what you suggested, and removed the management point role and reinstalled it later in the day. The system status was fine for the rest of the day, untill this morning when i logged in it gave me the same Message ID 5436 error. Any other suggestions?

Sounds like you have something messing with your IIS configuration. My first guess would be group policy. Have you reviewed the health of IIS in general on that system; e.g., service running, app pool running, error in event viewer, etc.Jason | http://blog.configmgrftw.com | Twitter @JasonSandys
