Consolidated Reports - empty report functionality and different PDF format vs report view
I've got a consolidated report, where if a constituent report has no data, it should suppress printing. I've done this by setting the "NoRowsMessage" equal to a blank string "". When I generate the report, however, the report viewer generates a blank page. Am I not suppressing that data properly? Further confusing the matter, when I save the report to a pdf file, the suppressed report is properly omitted fromt he file. Is there advice on how to get the the report viewer and PDF files to look exactly the same? Thanks in advance, Dan.Net Junkie

Bump ! - Surely others report users need to be retentive enough to complain about this! :) .Net Junkie

We have had this issue as well, we had to get our vendor to build an SSRS addin that suppresses printing when a special text tag is added to a report, otherwise you get the blank pages printing out. This is something that needs to be addressed by Microsoft as every other reporting system I have used has functionality to suppress printing if there is no data. I suppose you could look at setting your printer to not print blank pages, if that is even possible.
