Console connections?
o, What is the best practice? How many Consoles should be connected to the msnagement Servers (per management Server (RMS?)? Anyway to split the number of connections anywhere else than the RMS? The rule si set: Object: OpsMgr SDK Service Counter: Client Connections Frequency: 900 Maximum Sample Separation: 1 Thanks, Dom System Center Operations Manager 2007 / System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2 / Forefront Client Security / Forefront Identity Manager

Consoles connect to the SDK service, which only runs on the RMS. No way to split this.HTH, Jonathan Almquist - MSFT

Yep, there are ways to create multiple web console servers for the web based clients, but those all point to the SDK running on the RMS to the load all comes back there. The full console always connects directly to the RMS. Sometimes there are a lot of console connections due to a few monitors with dashbards hanging against the wall or people who have the console open the whole day and are not looking that often or intensely. In that case you could increase the console refresh rate from default 15 seconds to perhaps 30 seconds or 1 minute. This decreases the load as well. Registry Path Registry Value (DWORD) HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Operations Manager\3.0\console\CacheParameters\ PollingInterval 0 – 10 (0 turns off automatic refresh and requires manual refresh via F5. The value 1 through 10 increments the refresh interval every 15 seconds. The maximum value of 10 is a refresh interval of 2 min 30 seconds).Bob Cornelissen - BICTT (My BICTT Blog)

I think MSFT recommends no more thant 50. Furthremore, you should understand that the WEB console puts more strain on the SDK service compared to a full client console. I would hack the reg on your consoles so that refresh is turned off forcing operators to manually refresh if you are worried about excessive load.Regards, Blake Email: mengotto<at>hotmail.com Blog: http://discussitnow.wordpress.com/
