Hello, The scenario happens in SCOM R2 CU2 environment... I'm creating a new subscription.. give it a name, choose a condition which has to query the DB, for example : "raised by any instance of a specific class" and then the Console freeze\crash... or generating an error (and crash..) : Date: 12/01/2011 14:36:41 Application: System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 Application Version: 6.1.7221.0 Severity: Error Message: Object reference not set to an instance of an object . I'm suspecting for corruption .. any idea how to troubleshoot that ? Thank you.

Have this every now and again and it used to drive me crazy!!!! How I got a work round was to install the console on a different machine... the issue is with faulty assemblies. New console (win 7 never lets me down on this issue) Paul Keely

Is this always in reference to a particular _instance_ of a class? Have you tried running the console with the /nocache command line option? If the console cache and the database are out of sync, you can refer to things that have been deleted by your administrators. This can happen when an MP has been deleted, for instance. Try other classes, try flushing the console cache ...Microsoft Corporation

Can I ask do you have any subscriptions working? Have you got any SCOM CU on the server, and are you trying this on the RMS? Paul Keely

Hi I also noticed this in the list of what CU3 resolves: When using a remote console the notification wizard does not work in certain situations The end user attempts to create a notification subscription for a remote console by using one of the following conditions: Raised by an instance in a specific group Raised by any instance in a specific class Created by specific rules or monitors (e.g. sources) Upon continuing, the “Object reference not set to an instance of an object” error is shown, and the console must be restarted. System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 Cumulative Update 3 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2251525 If you want to try CU3, please refer to: OpsMgr 2007 R2 CU3 rollup hotfix ships – and my experience installing it http://blogs.technet.com/b/kevinholman/archive/2010/10/04/opsmgr-2007-r2-cu3-rollup-hotfix-ships-and-my-experience-installing-it.aspx Hope it is helpful.
