Hi Sunit, What is the connection string you used? By default, the connection string should be the URL of the site or the web service. For example, http://myServer/sites/SiteA/_vti_bin/lists.asmx or http://myServer/sites/SiteA/_vti_bin/lists.asmx Thanks, Jin ChenJin Chen - MSFT

Hi Jin This is for SharePoint Foundation 2010 and Report Builder 3.0. I use: "data source=http://MySharePointWeb/MySharePointSite/" (recommended on http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd220525.aspx). If I use: http://myServer/sites/SiteA/_vti_bin/lists.asmx will get: "An error occurred when accessing the specified SharePoint list. The connection string might not be valid. Verify that the connection string is correct.",I Thanks, Poul Melchiorsen

Hi Poul, The connection string you used looks fine. Could you please try to open the URL in the Internet Explorer, and check what is returned? Thanks, Jin ChenJin Chen - MSFT

Hi Jin Do you mean the URL from the connection string? - It is http://spdemo.maqis.dk and it returns the web site as expected. Best regards, Poul Melchiorsen

Hi Poul, Is the http://spdemo.maqis.dk an internal site? If so, could you please try using NETBIOS(http://servername) instead, and check what happen then? Please note, the SharePoint server must be in the same domain or trusted domain with the client. Thanks, Jin ChenJin Chen - MSFT

Hi Jin I am not sure what you mean by NETBIOS(http://servername). I have tried "data source=http://[ip-adresss]" and "data source=http://[computer name]". Error: "The connection string is not valid." I run Report builder on the same computer as SharePoint and the SQL server/Reporting Services is installed. The thing is that I have no trouble make data sources with connection type Microsoft SQL Server. Best Regards Poul Melchiorsen
