Connect to RS 2008 using Management Studio 2008 R2
According to Microsoft: SQL 2008 Management Studio reports an error if you attempt to connect to a SQL 2005 Reporting Services Instance using the the SQL instance name. You can still manage the instance by http webservices if you use the http address to the service instead of the servername. (1) Question: I have two Reporting Services instances that are version 10.0.2531.0 (SQL 2008). Using Management Studio 2008 R2 (10.50.1734.0) I can connect to one instance using the instance name but for the other I have to use the URL. Is it a valid assumption for me to say that I should be able to connect to RS 2008 from Management Studio 2008 R2 using the instance name? If so, what could be the problem that is preventing me from doing so on one of my RS instances?
