Configure firewall for sccm 2012 R2

hi

i need to configure firewall for sccm 2012 r2. what shall i do?

do i have to configure firewall on client side and server side?

do i have to configure inbound rule and outbound rule on client side and server side?

  • -- > indicates one computer initiates communication and the other computer always responds

  • < -- > indicates that either computer can initiate communication

Note that you need to configure the inbound rules on the devices based on the information above.

Honestly, you need to understand firewalls before configuring them. The links with the ports that need to opened assumes this knowledge and without it, you will never be able to properly get the task done. It's kind of like doing multiplication without knowing how to add. It's not difficult, but you need to know one to know the other. Many things in IT are like this -- you can't just get an more advanced task done without knowing the foundation for the task and no step by step will get you there because they do not and cannot account for your environment.
