Configure SharePoint Search for a Site Collection
There is no access to Central Admin and I can only access the Site Collection (e.g.
http://sharepoint/sites/km). I am part of Site Owner's group for this site collection.
The default search is searching all the site collections on this sharepoint server. From the above example URL, I want to restrict the search only to search within the "km" site collection. My constraint is that I do not have
access to Central Admin.
Is there any way I can implement this without having access to Central Administration? Thanks & Regards,

If you are a site collection administrator you can create custom search scopes and restrict the search to only within the scope that you created for your site collection
Search Scopes option is under "Site Collection Administrators" section

Thanks Ram. We tried this before I shooted the question, but it didn't work out. We could create a Custom search scope. How can we restrict the search to only within the scope? Appreciate if you can share some steps. Thanks & Regards,

u can configure in search webparts
Search webparts have an option to specify Scope display group, after you create the site collection level search scopes, create scope display groups and select scopes you want to be grouped.
Once search scopes and scope display groups are created, you can create a custom search page and configure the search webparts to use a specific scope display group

Also when u configure the search webparts just specify "Do not show scopes dropdown" option for search scopes
You also need to make sure type the Scope Display Group exactly as you named it when it was created in Search Scopes option in Site Collection Administration section under site settings pageMicrosoft Certified Master | SharePoint 2007
