Configuration of discovery method and backup central site

Hi All Dears

There is a Central site and 33 primary child site in  infrastructure  (all windows server 2008 r2 and all sccm 2007 r3). I have 2 questions:

1- The best configuration of discovery method in central site and all primary child sites.

2- I can't use backup with backup task maintenance in SCCM because of continuous updating inboxes\auth\ddm.box.

please help me in above cases.

thanks.

best regards.

If you're AD schema is extended use AD system discovery otherwise network discovery is sufficient.

For you're backup issue can you post the backup logs to spot the problem.

You need to call CSS. There's not nearly enough info here to troubleshoot this. I've personally NEVER heard of a site with this number of primary sites. How many clients do you have? What so much traffic, many client settings are too frequent etc. This will be a great deal of work I assume.

may i know which kind of information to know to help me solve my problem.

i have 5100 client until now and it will be increased to 15000 clients later, now i want to know with this specification one central site will support how many primary child site?

Why do you think you need all these primary child sites? You should be able to run 15,000 clients from a single primary site.

this an obligatory design for my organization and i can't change this design. please give solution accordingly.

what are the failures of my design (1 central site and 33 primary child sites)? I want to satisfy my designer accordingly.

So there are a few things.

  • Are the child sites, child primaries or Secondary site?
  • at the child primary sites, does the local IT staff need to manager the PC using CM07?
  • How often are you doing your discovery?
  • where are you doing your Discovery? aka at which sites
  • What time is your backup?
  • What time is your full discovery?
  • Are you discovering the whole AD or just part of it? If only part which site are doing what?
  • Is there any overlap in the discoveries?
  • Since you must follow the design as layout by someone else, what did they have setup within the design?
  • Why are you building a CM07 environment, when you should be building a CM12 one?
