Configuration Manager 2012 R2 SP1 - With AppV 5.0 SP2

Hi friendlies,

I am doing my due diligence before upgrading to Config Manager 2012 R2 SP1 and I may have found something not updated in the documentation, but am coming here to see if anyone else can confirm.

Our client still have AppV 5.0 SP2 installed and they can't seem to receive user based AppV apps after the upgrade.

In the client logs, the client is publishing the package with a new parameter -UserSID and failing because APPV doesn't support the parameter.

Has anyone come accoss official documentation about the support Appv configurations that support this theory?

Best I can find is this: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj822982.aspx#BKMK_Supp

But this talks about R2 and Appv 5.0 SP3 and not R2 SP1 specifically.

Cheers

-Jesse

Jesse,

I'm not able to replicate this. I have just sent down a user based App-V package (5.0 SP2) to my end user with no problem.

Hi Paul,

Was the Config Manager client updated on your test yet? or the older 5.00.7958.1501 (CU4)

My problem started occurring after the client upgrade.

I'm reverting my environment to do some more thorough testing and confirm when it started happening. Will report back.

Cheers

Jesse,

I'm running the R2 SP1 client (5.00.8239.1000) not running the HF4 on the App-V client.  Let me take a look at this as well.

Thanks

Jesse,

I can confirm that I am getting the same problem publishing under the user context with App-V 5.0 SP2 HF4. I will upgrade my client to HF5 and test this again.

Full error is:

I have logged this as a bug at Connect but the workaround is to upgrade to HF5 for now.

If you have access to Connect then vote it up, or join the programme and vote it up ;-)

Thanks Paul,

I have upvoted the Bug.

For now I think we are going to skip to AppV 5.0 SP3 as there are some features we can leverage.

Thanks again for doing your own testing.
