Configuration Manager 2012 R2 Clients asking for reboot when user logs on

Hi,

We are distributing software updates during the weekends. Based on the logs everything goes as planned, software updates are installed and the machines reboot. However, when a user logs on after the weekend they receive a notification of a pending reboot.

The RebootCoordinator.log states "Reboot initiated" after the patches have been installed and the machine is rebooted, then there are these entries:

  • Entered ScheduleRebootImpl - requested from 'UpdatesDeploymentAgent'. set Rebootby = 0. set NotifyUI = True. set PreferredRebootWindowType = 4 RebootCoordinator 17.5.2014 22:15:05 2748 (0x0ABC)
  • Scheduled non mandatory reboot from agent UpdatesDeploymentAgent RebootCoordinator 17.5.2014 22:15:05 2748 (0x0ABC)

Has anyone seen this before? Why is ConfigMgr asking for a non-mandatory reboot after the mandatory one?

Where the computers locked by users before the weekend? What client settings have you specified for computer restart?

The RebootCoordinator.log also states "User is not logged on" prior to the mandatory reboot, so no one should have been logged on over the weekend.

The Computer Restart settings are as follow:

Display a temporary notification...... 90

Display a dialog box that the user.... 15

The maintenance window is set to 7 hours, so that is more than enough.
