Config Manager Site Listing

Hi, we have a new SCCM 2012 Primary site and secondary site stood up.  I would like to know what should show up under the site properties on the client in configuration manager for the site when you are using the secondary site as the MP.  Should this always have the primary site indicated or should the secondary site be listed.  I tried to change the site in the configuration settings on the client but it threw an error.

Thanks,

This should show the primary site code.

Hi, thanks Paul.  If we have Primary site (001) and a secondary site (002).  The secondary site is overseas and we are pushing the SCCM agent to the clients and we have the SMSSITECODE set to auto should it not set the site code to 002?  In the SCCM admin console it says the site is 002 not 001 for the clients that are discoverd in the secondary sites boundries.  So shouldn't the SCCM agent proprties on the client indicate 002 not 001 the primary site?

Thanks,

Steve

Correct. Clients are *not* managed by secondary sites and are thus not members of the secondary site; they should always have the site code of the primary site server. Note that you may see the secondary site in the console on resources that do not have the client agent installed if you've configured your boundary groups for site assignment to the secondary, but this is not the same as the client agent being managed by the secondary site. Once the resource has the client agent on it, it will flip to the3 primary site code. Basically, don't confuse an unmanaged resource in the console with a resource corresponding to a managed system.
