Hi, a primary site I'm looking at is having issues summarizing status information, pretty much all secondary sites (approx 200) have the SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER role reporting as critical, although the error count is zero and there are no status messages (error or warning) available to assist with troubleshooting. the error messages may have been deleted and counts reset by the client, either way the roles should be showing as okay by now but they're still critical?? There is no problems to speak of within the log files either on the primaries or secondaries, distmgr.log is fine too. I've created test packages and these push out okay, so the errors appear to be with the status summarisation only. I'm going to leave it overnight and hope these may sort themselves out but in the mean time I'd like to hear from anyone who may have come across anything similar..? thanks!

Any chance that you're running in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/978021/en-us and distmgr is just generating too much status messages? It could also be possible that you're just getting too many status messages from that component and therefore it turns yellow or red. See Site Settings -> Status Summary -> Component Status Summarizer -> Thresholds

Thanks for the reply Torsten, that patch has already been applied apparently and the problem is still occuring. after investigating a little futher it seems that it's that the Distribution Manager is constantly trying to process the same package, it's generating the following status messages: 10:01:15 2300 - SMS Distribution Manager is beginning to process package "Package A".. 10:01:15 2342 - SMS Distribution Manager is starting to distribute package "Package A".. 10:01:15 2301 - SMS Distribution Manager successfully processed package "Package A".. 10:01:20 2300 - SMS Distribution Manager is beginning to process package "Package A".. 10:01:20 2342 - SMS Distribution Manager is starting to distribute package "Package A".. 10:01:20 2301 - SMS Distribution Manager successfully processed package "Package A".. These 3 messages are being generated every 5 seconds for this one package only, I've tried removing the advertisment and deleted the package and the messages are still being generated, it seems for some reason the component doesn't seem to be identifying that the package has been successfully processed, any ideas what else we can try? I resolved this by removing the associated package files from .\inboxes\distmgr.box\INCOMING\ .\inboxes\distmgr.box\ .\inboxes\pkgmgr.box\

I guess it's not the good solution. We are having the same problem. A lot of Secondary Sites generate hundreds and even thousands of Info status messages. Is there a real solution for this ?
