Compliance and Cost Management for Resource Pools?
Is ther any way to implment compliance and cost management strategies for the various kinds of resource pools (All Management Servers Resource Pool, Notifications Resource Pool, and AD Assignment Resource Pool). How can we automate the processes like Auditing and Reporting, Metered Usage etc. for these resource pools?

Hi That is outside the scope of SCOM but is covered by other products in the System Center suite. For 2012, you don't license SCOM but System Center so you can look to deploy them (I can tell you are using SCOM 2012 as you mention Resource Pools): - Auditing - you could leverage the Audit Collection Services functionality from SCOM. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh298613.aspx - System Center Configuration Manager 2012 - Configuration Management and Settings Management (used to be called Desired Configuration Management). Metering Usage. - System Center Virtual Machine Manager \ AppController - for chargeback for "resource" usage - System Center Advisor - configuration for windows 2008+, SQL 2008+, Exchange, SharePoint Cheers GrahamRegards Graham New System Center 2012 Blog! - http://www.systemcentersolutions.co.uk View OpsMgr tips and tricks at http://systemcentersolutions.wordpress.com/

Yes Graham, i am talking about the System Center 2012 suite. And the information about Auditing and configuration settings are the ones that i was looking for. Thanks. But i still have some concerns about the notification related setting. Can you please clarify that part as well. Thanks in advance.Vishal Soni

Ok. Another question in my mind, do we have any tools that supports process and quality improvement programs (like Business Continuity etc.)or agility (self service automation) for these resource pools?Vishal Soni

Self service and automation are covered by Service Manager Service Requests (exposed by a SharePoint portal) and Orchestrator. It isn't clear to me how this would be relevant to resource pools though as there is only 1 notification resource pool and you can't provision new ones. http://blogs.technet.com/b/servicemanager/archive/2011/11/10/demo-automating-service-request-fulfillment-from-the-scsm-service-catalog-with-orchestrator-real-world-examples.aspx There is an IT GRC Management Pack available for Service Manager around process. Hey Graham, Thanks for the link. I meant, how can one add more resources to the existing resources pools. is there a way for automation of this process? For example, if someone wants to add a new 'Alert Subscription Service instance' to the existing Notification Resource pool, or wants to customize the AD integration workflows, is there a way for automating that for the end users (or the power-users)Vishal Soni
