Comparison study of FIM with other Identity Managers
Hi,While analysing three Identity Management products, I understood that FIM is some what lagging in terms of "publishing workflow as web service", "built in report designer" etc in comparision say IBM and Oracle IM latest versions. Where can I find a comparison study which states that FIM leads in certain area from its competitors. Thanks

With FIM 2010 the Microsoft Identity Management platform will be pretty complete compared to the competitors but for a fair view of this I recommend you to contact any of the independent analyst companies working in this area like Garner, Burton Group, Kuppinger Cole or maybe a Microsoft Partner. Earlier versions have not been as feature rich as the main competitors but with FIM 2010 this has changed, you have Workflows, Web services, self service, built in group management and a lot more. For report design you'll have to turn to for example SQL Server Reporting Services that is a part of SQL Server 2008 and required by FIM 2010 but remember SQL Server is also a complete Business Intelligence platform and from what other manufacturer will you get that? Microsoft Products often differs from the competitors in one main term, they don't deliver a complete product out of the box it has to be configured and often even be developed on top of in order to do exactly what you want it to and the extensibility is rarely the problem.Henrik Nilsson Blog: http://www.idmcrisis.com Company: Cortego (http://www.cortego.se)

The feature set of FIM2010 can be extended by taking third-party add-ons into consideration. In terms of reporting services Omada will offer a product that enables reporting in the FIM2010 cloud/Matthias
