Column filtering not working consistently - shows "clear filter" option for other columns
I have list in MOSS with several columns some of these columns are business data columns which are not sortable or filterable themselves. The other columns are standard columns of type "single line of text" or people such as modified by etc.
These columns have the small arrow which allows them to be sorted or filtered. The problem is if you filter one of these columns you don't always get the choice to "clear filter from" whatever you filtered on. In fact, sometimes you get the choice
to clear filter from another column completely and they happen to be BDC columns in case that is significant. So for example I filter on a single line of text column called Org num with values like 1.1.10 or 1.1.20.2 The view changes and I see list items
with the org num I filtered on. However when I go to turn it off, I'm on the org num column but I am seeing "clear filter from" and it is listing one of the BDC columns. Not only that the BDC column it suggest you clear from changes so sometimes
it's name, sometimes organization, but always BDC columns. Any suggestions as to why this might be happening? I tried another list in this environment without bdc columns and the filtering seemed to turn off and on ok.

Hi, would anybody have any ideas? The filter works the first time but when you try to remove it, it shows you other columns instead. Then the only way to remove the filter is to click the back button.
For example you put a filter on column X but when you want to take it off you only get the option to "remove filter from Y". There's no filter on Y, I didn't do anything with column Y, I'm hovering over X trying to remove a filter from X not Y.
Has anybody seen behavior like this before? I don't know if it's because I am using BDC columns or not. Filtering seems to work ok on other lists in this site without a business column. Also it seems to happen intermittantly but unfortunately
it's still happening to the business stakeholders as well as myself occasionally. Any ideas where to start troubleshooting this would be appreciated.
