Column Properties in List Settings
I've a very strange issue with WSS 3.0 SP1 and SP2 and a list template. When i try to edit the column setting of lists created using the same list template some columns display only the description attribute. Attributes like "Require
that this column contains information" aren't displayed. I suspect that this error is related with a faulty list template (the template is provisioned by a list template file and using a feature). As a consequence of this problem some
programs that relies on SharePoint Web Services that try to read and update the list schema generates an exception.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi,
Thanks for posting.
I understand your issue as following:
You can’t get the option "Require that this column contains information" when you edit the column.
Only the lists based on this list template have this issue?
When I add multiply content types into a single list, I can reproduce this issue. If I add one more content type for new list,
edit any column from this list, you won’t get the option for "Require that this column contains information". It’s by design,
I also see same behavior in SharePoint 2007 and SharePoint 2010.
If I misunderstand you, please feel free to let me know.
Thanks!

Sorry for my poor english.
When i wrote that i can't get the options like ""Require that this column contains information" my intention is to say that i can't get any other property (eg: "The type of information in this column is:
","Default value","Maximum number of characters"). No the list template doesn't have multiple contents types options enabled ad rely only on the default "Document" content type. If i add additional columns (other than those definent into the list template)
the properties are displayed as expected.
Thank you.

HI,
I am sorry too I have misunderstood you.
Just confirm the issue is that you can only set the options “Column Name” and “Description”, other options don’t display in the Edit
Column Page?
If possible, can you let me know the steps and the links for the feature’s files? I need get more information from the definition.
Another alternative solution, you can consider to create a list and add the necessary column into the list, then save the list as a template, in the future you
can create the new list based this template.
Hope this helps.Everything will be fine.

Ok, Thanks for your update, Gabriele.
Actually, i have created a list temaplate using the feature, but i can't reproduce this issue. so maybe the feature files are not correct. If you can get the copy of the features, and test it, it will be better :)
If you need any further help, please feel free to ask the questions in the forum.
Thanks again.
Everything will be fine.
