Column Description Missing From Edit Item Page
Has anyone else experienced this? I've just noticed that my Column descriptions (specified under Additional Column Settings) are no longer appearing on the Edit Item page (EditForm.aspx) for any of my Lists. This is happening to all Sites, held within multiple Site Collections. I'm wondering if a recent SP2 reinstall might have had an affect on it?

Goto C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\CONTROLTEMPLATES on the WFE. Look at the file DefaultTemplates.ascx -- has the timestamp been modifed? Should be 2006. See if the surrounding files all have the same timestamp. Open the file. Look at the tag <SharePoint:RenderingTemplate ID="CompositeField". Check and see if the tag <SharePoint:FieldDescription is present. Because what you are describing is a farm level change and the only thing I can think of is the CONTROLTEMPLATES were modified.
