Cluster on VMWare - 2 Node with File Share Witnesss - Error

Dear Guru's,

I have recently set up a 2 node Windows 2012 cluster on top of VMWare with file share witness and need some help.

The issue I am having is every 24 hours or less the cluster services are getting disabled on both nodes. We have already looked at the cluster logs but are not able to pin point where the issue is.

Kindly shed some light into this.

Many thanks,

Mohan

Hi Mohan,

Did you configure cluster between two VM's? Please explain your setup to help you further. Also, do you see any error message in event log? Did you run validation tool and see if it shows any warnings or error?

Hi Umesh,

Thank you for the response.

We have set up the cluster between two VM's with no shared disk configuration.

I can post the cluster log if that helps.

Thanks,

Mohan

Sorry to add,

The only error during validation we get is a warning saying we haven't got any shared storage, which is expected.

The other one being there is only a single network path between the two servers.

Thanks,

Mohan

Unfortunately, I can't access the link to download the log file. Can you upload that to onedrive?

Meantime, have you installed the below hotfix as mentioned?

Hi Umesh,

I am checking whether the hotfix is installed.

In the mean time I've uploaded the cluster log to One drive accessible on below link.

Hi Mohan,

The cluster log date shows as 2015/07/23-14:57:22. Do you have recent log file? or can you generate one when you see the issue? Also, can you look at event logs for more info?

Also, please turn off windows firewall services on both the nodes.

Hi Mohan Chhapadia,

With Windows Server failover cluster we need the shared storage and we need avoid the single network as the single point failure.

More details please refer the following KB:

When we run the cluster on VMware vSphere there have some additional requirement from VMware please first make your environment meet it.

Im glad to be of help to you!
