Cluster configurations
Hi, I'm in the process of deploying one SCOM solution spread over multiple datacenters. I have read the supported configurations but some things are not sure. - Can the operationsmanager database be on an active active SQL cluster? - Is the RMS cluster active - active? If yes does it support F5 load balancing to guide the agent to the closest RMS - Can the OperationsManagerDW and ACS database be on an active - active SQL cluster?

Hi Mark, The databases can be on active-active clusters. I mean that one node has the opsdb up and another node has the datawarehouse up. So you could create a 4 node cluster and have 3 sql instances, each with its own db (opsdb, opsDW, acsdb) and have it active-active-active-passive. Just as an example. One sql instance lives on one physical node at a time and its up to you if you want to put multiple databases in an instance there of course. If you want to split it you will have to have more instances and devide them over the nodes you have. For the RMS, there is only one. So if you cluster it there is just one instance of the RMS running. So active-passive. And if there is only one RMS you dont need the load balancing (or at least it doesnt do much).Bob Cornelissen - BICTT (My BICTT Blog)
