Cluster Name ADRMS Certifcate Warning

Hello!

Every time I access the Active Directory Rights Management Services i get the following security alert:

"the name of the security certificate is not valid or does not match the name of the site"

If I check the urls https://rms.domain.pt/_wmcs/licensing/license.asmx or the https://rms.domain.pt/_wmcs/certification/certification.asmx I get NO warning at all.

Here are the cluster details:

Did I miss anything during the RMS installation ? Or can this be a problem ?

Thank you,

Miguel ngelo Saragoa Soares

Are you accessing RMS through and alias (e.g. NLB name) that is different from the hostname? If so you should add the hostname as a subject alternative name to the SSL certificate in order to avoid a warning.

Note that using a DNS alias is best practice and it helps avoid problems during RMS server migration (better said it is crucial for RMS server migration).

Ol Martin,

Thank you for your reply.

Yes I'm accessing thru an alias. I've a DNS entry like

 rms Alias (Cname) SRV1.domain.local

But if i add SRV1 as a subject alternative name it will be seen outside my organization since the intranet and extranet cluster URL share the same name which can be consider a security risk ?

Since this warning only occurs when I access the RMS admin console I guess I will just "ignore" it.
