Clients not getting Updates but showing in compliant

Hi all,

I am facing a very strange issue recently, I am using SCCM2012 to deploy MS updates every month.

I created a group for all the required updates and deploy it to one collection.

After waiting sometime, I checked the deployment status and I found most of the clients showing as compliant while they did not receive or install the updates.

Can you please help where to start to find a solution.

Thank you

Anything in the client log files ?

In case your clients are Windows 7 x86 a specific check you may want to do is search the Windowsupdate.log for Error 8007000E. If you are encountering this issue have a look here for background info and here for the fix..

Have you already seen http://blogs.technet.com/b/configurationmgr/archive/2015/04/15/support-tip-configmgr-2012-update-scan-fails-and-causes-incorrect-compliance-status.aspx?

Thank you, I think the hotfix has resolved the issue but what is the cause of it? Is it one of the previous updates? How to deploy it while most of the clients need this fix to start getting updates from SCCM?

Check the link from Torsten for more info and details.

It is indeed a 'chicken and egg' situation so you would need to deploy it via Software Distribution.

We are planning to deploy this update through SCCM software distribution as most of the machines have memory leak issue. So before doing that do we need to install this Prerequisite KB on SUP server(2938066)
