Client will not preform a hardware inventory

So I have a client that will not show it's hardware inventory. I uninstalled the sccm client and reinstalled.

I see this line in the agent log:  Inventory: 1 Collection Task(s) failed. InventoryAgent 7/16/2015 2:01:40 PM 972 (0x03CC)

Any thoughts how to get it working again?

That is not hardware inventory that is heartbeat discovery.

That's from the inventoryagent log. Isn't that the hardware log.

From The Technical Reference for Log Files in Configuration Manager InventoryAgent.log:

"Records activities of hardware inventory, software inventory, and heartbeat discovery actions on the client."

Thus, as Garth points out, the above snippet shows heartbeat discovery. This can clearly be seen because the inventory is submitted to "Destination:mp:MP_DdrEndpoint" and the beginning of the snippet states the action being performed is ":00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000003" which is for heartbeat discovery. Also, just because one task failed doesn't mean that the whole thing failed. That can also be clearly seen in the snippet above because the task finished and its results were uploaded. You can't zone in on one little thing in the log file, you have to read it and take the context into account.
