Client Job Stuck at Ready
All, One, maybe more, of my clients has jobs that are stuck "ready". However, they are not running, not trying to run, and every time the schedule executes the logs say, "There is an existing execution." They have been like this since January, so any logs pertaining to the issue are long gone. Any suggestion how I can clear the jobs out? I've tried using the SCCM Client Center, but there isn't a process associated with the jobs, so there isn't anything to kill. Any suggestions on how to purge this list? Thanks!

What's in execmgr.log then? Duplicate execution request found? I've never seen "an existing execution" in the logs. It's just a shot in the dark since you didn't provide enough information: any chance that the client is waiting for a "condition" (like "when no user is logged on" or "when a user is logged on"?). Double check the advertisements for that program. Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

The package in question has been delivered successfully to hundreds of other clients. One of the applications is a software deployment. It only runs when a user is logged in. The other application is a task sequence that runs once per hours. the execmgr.log says this (hinted above): For the task sequence: "A duplicate execution request is found for program *" For the application: "Interactive Installation state change from WaitingEnvironment to Ready" and it stays as "ready". However, it's not running. There are several others "WaitingForDependency" as it's the first piece of a chain. So, both this process and the task sequence are sitting at "ready", but never do anything.

the execmgr.log says this (hinted above): For the task sequence: "A duplicate execution request is found for program *" "Hinted above" ... please don't try to give hints ("is an existing execution"), use facts/quotes instead ("A duplicate execution request is found for program *"). That will increase the chance of getting an answer at all. Does execmgr "see" that a user logs in?Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

Thanks for your input! The task sequence (which is represented as a '*') is set to run every hour whether a user is logged in or not. The application (which is "Interactive Installation" is set to run when a user is logged in. It does look like it sees a user: ![LOG[A user has logged on.]LOG]!><time="08:05:37.575+240" ![LOG[Successfully raised SoftDistProgramWaitingPaused event for program Interactive Installation.]LOG]!><time="08:05:37.599+240" date="03-16-2011" component="execmgr" context="" type="1" thread="260" file="executionrequest.cpp:2841"> <![LOG[Execution Request for package LAS0001C program Interactive Installation state change from WaitingEnvironment to Ready]LOG]!><time="08:05:37.599+240" date="03-16-2011" component="execmgr" context="" type="1" thread="260" file="executionrequest.cpp:488"> <![LOG[Execution Request for package LAS0000E program * state change from Ready to WaitingDependency]LOG]!> Interesting things to not: "Interactive Installation" says it's ready, but never fires the program. The the task sequence "*", is "WaitingDependency", and it does not have any! I wonder if the task sequence is not executing because the other app is in limbo. I dunno. Is it possible to clear the job queue completely?

Hello - In Interactive install programs, the application must require some input from user (My guess)? Did you check the poackage is downloaded to the cache folder (if the dwonload option is enabled in advert)?Anoop C Nair - This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees, and confers no rights. |Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. You are correct, user input is required. The content is there, and has been since 03/01/2011.

No, I was confirming. His response was not a solution =) He is correct that is requires user input. The content has been in the local PC for 2 weeks. It's still "Ready".

So Jason, do you have the "allow users to interact" checked on the Environment tab?

Yes, of course. It has already installed on over 100 machines successfully :) So, today, I reinstalled the client. Once it got the application advertisement, it installed perfectly. Because it ran before the the task sequence. Now the task sequence has fired, it's set to ready, and no other advertisements will run! Including the KB hotfix package to R3, which has been installed on 450 machines without fail. So, it's very compelling. I think it's tied to the task sequence, although it's working successfully on many, many machines. Thanks for all the input. The search continues!
