Client Agent Install Error

Hello all,

I'm running an OSD TS on a Hyper-V VM, running standard VM hardware:

- 1 vCPU

- 4 GB RAM

- Local Area Connection - Virtual Network

- IDE Controller

I've run this setup often enough without any trouble. Now with this machine, for some reason, when the TS reaches the Client Agent Installation, the Agent thinks it's installing on a mobile client, which it is infact, not. The installing OS is Windows 7 SP1 x64 EN.

Executing command line: "D:\_SMSTaskSequence\OSD\CT100016\ccmsetup.exe" /useronly /source:D:\_SMSTaskSequence\OSD\CT100016 /config:MobileClient.TCF /status:520

At least I believe it's trying this, as the above install command states it's a mobile client installation. The installation then immediatley fails.

Any idea on what could cause this?

Regards,

Fred

This command line has nothing to do with installing a mobile clients, so don't worry about that.

Hi Torsten,

cheers :-) I'm getting the following log entries in the smsts.log for the Client Agent installation:

Executing D:\_SMSTaskSequence\OSD\CT100016\ccmsetup.exe /useronly /source:D:\_SMSTaskSequence\OSD\CT100016 /config:MobileClient.TCF /status:520

Command line for extension .exe is "%1" %*

Set command line: "D:\_SMSTaskSequence\OSD\CT100016\ccmsetup.exe" /useronly /source:D:\_SMSTaskSequence\OSD\CT100016 /config:MobileClient.TCF /status:520

Executing command line: "D:\_SMSTaskSequence\OSD\CT100016\ccmsetup.exe" /useronly /source:D:\_SMSTaskSequence\OSD\CT100016 /config:MobileClient.TCF /status:520

Process completed with exit code 1

FALSE, HRESULT=80004005 (e:\nts_sccm_release\sms\client\osdeployment\osdgina\installclient.cpp,1151)

Client installation failed, code 1

Failed to install SMS Client (0x80004005)

I don't quite understand this, because all other machines I'm installing on work flawlessly, but they are all hw. This is the only VM.

SCCM Version is SP1 CU1. The Client Installation has been modified with following parameter:

PATCH="%_SMSTSMDataPath%\OSD\<PackageID>\Patch\x64\configmgr2012ac-sp1-kb2817245-x64.msp"

Regards,

Fred

EDIT: Getting quite a few errors in the ccmsetup.log and client.msi.log, but I can't find anything specific. I've taken out the Update command now. Running again.

Okay, so it seems that the VM is the only client on the entire network that does not like the PATCH="" Command. As soon as I remove the command from the Setup Windows and Configuration Manager step, the Client Agent is installed.
