Changing Desktop Backgrounds
I have read the forums about desktop backgrounds and how to keep users from being able to modify them, but I am unable to change the desktop background on a limited user profile. It was set at one point, but is now just a solid color. I am using this for a business with requirements for a particular image for the desktop. I thought that once the setting was in, I would be able to set it and forget it. I have just revisited 8 machines and all are now solid colored backgrounds. I am unsure if an update has caused this, but need help in changing it back. So far, I have tried to change it through the registry, through mmc, and giving the user admin priveleges. None of these has allowed me to change from the current solid color to an image (jpg or bmp). In addition, and this would just be gravy on top of my mashed potatoes, I would like to change the background of the logon screen to the same image if that is possible. I haven't yet tried to do that because I've spent so much time involved in trying to change the other setting with no success.I just attempted to change the desktop background for my Administrator account and it is not happening there either.

Hi Risingeclipse, how do you change desktop background? I have tried this on a fully restricted user without lock or WDP:1. Use Windows Photo and fax viewer to open a picture.2. Right click on it and choose "Set as Desktop Backgroud".3. After logging off/restarting, the wallpaper remains. 4. Both jpg and bmp works on the user.Hope this helps!Sean Zhu - MSFT
