Change the DataSource of the Connection outside the BIDS? (Config file or something similar?)
Thanks Nitesh and Guru. Finally I have followed Nitesh's link and its indications. But I am having a problem now with the tasks of the package. Each task shows an error: "No connection manager is specified". I have configured and enabled the packeage configurations, so I don't know what is the problem now, any idea? Thanks a lot, Joss83

Hi Joss, Follow the steps below to configure and WELCOME to the user of SSIS. 1) Open the package in BIDS 2) Right Click on the CONTROL FLOW Tab, Click Package Configuration 3) You will get wizard to create CONFIG FILE. Select XML Configuration (OR) System Variables. Give the PATH Where you want to store the CONFIG File. 4) If you are selected XML Configuration. Select the Connection Property of the Connection which you have created in Connection Manager. 5) Save the Config FILE and run the package. 6) Open the XML CONFIG FILE in notepad change the CONNECTION to your TESTServer and run the package again. This time it will load data in Test Server. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Guru

Hi There, I am working in a SSIS project and we have one Connection pointing at a Test DB. Through the Configuration Manager or the connection String propertie we are able to point at Test DB or at Live DB. The point is that we want something similar but for doing outside the BIDS. It means, Is there any config file or something like that, in which the client can change the Data Source of the Connection (of the SISS project) from outside the BIDS? It is very urgent to me, so if anyone have an idea or something I would be very grateful. Best regards, Joss83

Hi, You have to configure the XML CONFIGURATION File in SSIS Package. In that CONFIG File you can select the ServerName Option to be configure. Once you configure the CONFIG File it will do the rest of your requirement. You just want to edit the CONFIG File and the change the SERVER NAME. Hope this will help. Let me know if you have any issues while implementing this. Thanks, Guru
