Change list item permission

Hi, I have a list where the items permission doesn't inherit from the list permission.

When I click on "List settings" > "Permissions for this list" > "Some items in this list can have unique permissions that are not controlled from this page. Show these items." I am not being able to see all the items that have particular permissions. I am getting the message "The number of authorized exceptions exceeds that which can be displayed. Items in this list have unique permissions"

How can I change an item permission that is not being shown in the list (I cant code and no powershell, no access to the server).

Thanks,
Renato

Hi,

From your description, someone (Either a Site collection administrator or someone with full control permissions) broke the inheritance on those list items and then removed permissions in an attempt to create unique permissions in order to trim users access to specific items.

we would have the capability to develop a PowerShell script to perform this action on all child items within that list.

Because you can't use PowerShell, unfortunately you will have to set each Item to re-inherit permissions manually. Therefore I believe that the easiest method would be to perform the following actions:

"List settings" > "Permissions for this list" > "Some items in this list can have unique permissions that are not controlled from this page. Show these items." >Click Show these items> It should open a new window that will list all of the items with broken inheritance, click on each part that says "manage permissions", at this point set them to inherit permissions one by one.

I hope this answers your question.
