Change URL for reporting point
How can I change the URL for the reporting point? For example, I have configured the reporting point to use HTTPS and the URL ishttps://serverName:443/SMSReporting_ABC. I would like to change the URL to have the FQDN of the server, i.e.https://serverName.domain.com:443/SMSReporting_ABC.Do I have to delete the Reporting Point from Site Systems and then add it back?I am running a clean install of SCCM SP2 with R2 with SQL 2008 SP1 on Server 2008 R2.Thanks.Shawn

It seems as if this is not a ConfigMgr issue. It should work without modifying anything if server.domain.com resolves to server.

I saw that the response "You could also create a DNS record," was marked as the answer. Could anyone explain what type of DNS record one would need to create. I have an A record for the server, i.e. SCCM.MYDOMAIN.COM. The certificate is a wildcard cert, i.e. *.mydomain.com.Shawn

Hi, when you create a server role at that time they ask for FQDN for server i.e sccm.domainname.com. so there is no need to change it. you can access reporting point using FQDN(https://SCCM.domainname.com:443/SMSReporting_ABC.). By default it uses netbios name. hope it will solve your problem.Rakesh Kumar

But be sure that server have sysadmin right on remot SQL server and should be member of local admin on SQL server. for more information check below link - Reporting in Configuration Manager http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb632630.aspx hope this will help you.Rakesh Kumar

Well I tried replying back to this once in another browser, so apologies if this double posts. I too wanted to do this exact same thing, however after I edited that field, I tried running a report and the same Report Options window popped up prompting me where to run it. I tried typing in the FQDN of the server there and it still didn't work. So it appears this has to be edited somewhere else to take full effect. My problem is that I have a working SSL cert for IIS that doesn't include the NetBIOS name of the server in the SAN and can't; my SSL certs come from a CA that my University has an agreement with and they'll only approve certs that contain our TLD. Anyone know where the string/URL for the server is stored? In the SQL DB? An XML file perhaps? If I can find it, I can edit it, restart the service/server, and perhaps it will work.

Yeah, I had the same thing happen to me. I thought my change would allow me to configure the reporting URL with the FQDN instead of the Netbios name, but when opening a report, I was prompted to select a reporting point and the only one listed had the Netbios name. I'm in the same boat where my certificate doesn't have the server name as a SAN. Anyone else have an idea on how we can change this in ConfigMgr?Shawn
