Change Service Accounts Password
Hi everybody, I've been programming for SharePoint for 2 years, but now a costumer has asked me to manage all their SharePoint sites. I know that I can change the passwords using stasadm but I don't know what the impact is although from this article it seems very simple to change. I'm going to have to change all the passwords (Setup, Service, AppPool, Search). Any advices to make this task easier or any heads-up for common problems? Thanks, Rafael Mascarenhas.

Hi Rafael Mascarenhas, Changing the password of a SharePoint security account or the farm's configuration account is a remarkably complex undertaking. Among other things, you must apply changes in Active Directory and in the SharePoint server's local Security Account Manager (SAM) database, in the Service Control Manager (SCM) database, in the IIS metabase, in SQL Server, and, of course, in SharePoint content and configuration databases. For more information about the underlying processes that facilitate password changes, please refer to the following article: Maintaining Security Account Credentials http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2009.02.insidesharepoint.aspxRegards, Rock Wang Microsoft Online Community Support
