Many thanks FIM Forum. I configured http://passwordreset.abc.domain.com during FIM installation, now I open IIS Manager and edit binding into http://passwordreset.domain.com. Is it possible ? Thuan Soldier SharePoint Vietnam | Blog | Twitter

Hi everyone, As you know, when installing FIM Password Reset and Password Registration Portal, we need to provide Host Name configuration, and then type Port and select Open port in firewall if you would like to publish this website throughout port 80. Now I need to change those URLs. Do I have to re-run FIM Password/Registration installation or I just only need to open IIS Manager, right click on corresponding websites and then click Edit Binding, and change URLs. Many thanks for your support. Regards, -T.sThuan Soldier SharePoint Vietnam | Blog | Twitter

Hi, As we was talking binding is not a problem. Its just host like a ordinary website in IIS. And you welcome with more questions about FIM. Regards,M. Irfan

Hi, You need to run the insulation file again, and in the options you have to select the first option, change. And all seetings will be same just where you have to write the path http://passwodres....... :80 and check open port in firewall check box. You can pick the same option also which you write but the suggested way is above mention. And there will be nothing else change in your settings. After installation complete, I think you have run IIsreset command also. Appreciate if you find it useful and regarded. Regards, Fim Forum

Hi again, One important thing its not rerun, its only change. It will not make changes in database or some where else. You have to keep all the things same. Only change the port number. Second with the binding only increase the administration work. Nothing more. But if you are asking is there any specific con and pros. There is nothing except the administration and IIS overload. But with the change you do not need to touch any thing in IIS. Only restart required. Regards, Fim Forum

Thanks for your recommendation. Is there any difference between configuring Host Name during installing Password Reset/Registration portal and modifying Binding setting in IIS ? Thanks Thuan Soldier SharePoint Vietnam | Blog | Twitter

I always change the bindings after setup is complete. In my case, I'm adding SSL on 443 and removing the temporary binding that setup creates. The FIM setup doesn't allow you to do SSL on setup - in fact it even says that with the "your configuration isn't secure" dialog during install. Bonus points if you can get both registration and reset portals on port 443 with SSL on the same IP- because the IIS Manager doesn't let you do that, but you can use appcmd.exe to do it..Frank C. Hi Again, No there is not difference if you change the settings through binding or as a procedural way. And SSL is not work with default installation. Have to change the settings after installation. And you can pick any unused ports. Regards, Fim Forum

@FIM Forum: I'm confused since you have suggested running FIM portal again and the latest comment says there is no difference. This basically mean I don't have to run FIM portal installation again, right? @Frank: thanks for your recommendation. I have configured SSL binding for two portals. Hi, Oh sorry, did not mean to confuse you. As I mentioned, reconfigure through procedural way is easy and in case of binding more administration work. And reinstall did not mean every thing will be reinstalled. If at the time of installation you pick the option "change" it will implement only changed. Dont disturb the other settings. But of course you have to enable policies again i think. Regards,Fim Forum
