Change Farm Account?
Hello, SharePoint 2010, I am trying to change the Farm Account. I made the change to a new farm account under Central Admin > Security > Configure Service Accounts. The change seems to have gone through, however, when I delete the old user account that was being used for the Farm Account and I try to backup sharepoint it fails. If I re-create the old farm account in Active Directory (don't change anything in Central Admin) I can backup again. The specific error I get from STSADM is "The specified user or domain group cannot be found". I'm assuming that the old Farm Account still have something it's holding onto in SharePoint 2010 that the new farm account should have and doesn't. Any help?Owner, Quilnet Solutions

I tried the command line tool (STSADM) for updating the farm account and I'm still getting the same issue after that. It's as if the Database Access account can't be changed once you set up SharePoint. I may have to reinstall SharePoint 2010 to get this to work. Hopefully Microsoft is listening and will have a solution in the first service pack.Owner, Quilnet Solutions

Have you tried rerunning the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard, choosing not to disconnect from the farm and not to remove the web app?

Check the IIS Application pool identities: do you see updated admin account or the old one? Check Sharepoint related services (like Timer Service, Admin Service etc.) on services.msc: are they running with true account ? ceren

We moved SharePoint to another server a few weeks ago which forced us to redo Sharepoint. We had the chance during setup to change the Farm account so everything is working at this point. Still wish there was an easier way to switch the farm account but either way. This issue no longer exists in our environment. Thanks,Owner, Quilnet Solutions
