Ccmcache automatic clearing

Hello everyone,

I have some questions about the Ccmcache folder. I would like to know how often it is cleared, and what triggers it being cleared automatically. I would also like to know if it clears the whole folder or just enough space to complete needed processes.

The folder that is in question is located at C:\Windows\ccmcache

I have found that Wally said it is managed automatically, but he is not real specific.  - http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/systemcenter/en-US/02d919e8-3fb6-42a0-b7a4-0dd81fc06b9c/clearing-ccm-cache?forum=configmgrswdist

Currently using SCCM System Center 2012

Any help would be deeply appreciated.

Hi,

It is all explained here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg712288.aspx#BKMK_ClientCache It will delete the oldest content so there is enough space to download the package, it does not clear the whole folder.

Jrgen

Jorgen,

Thanks for your great information! In your experience is there any other information that you can tell me about the Ccmcache folder, and how to keep it running smooth for client machines?

You're the best!

Ajo Abraham,

I think there is a misunderstanding here, we are not using a setting or group policy to automate this process. I was just looking for more information on how SCCM manages its cache. I did however find out that it removes data from the cache automatically if the data has been there for more than 24 hours, and it only removes the oldest content until it regains enough space to put new content. If the data it is trying to remove is less than 24 hours old it will fail and try again every 4 hours until it has tried 18 times.
