I have created a new desktop image with windows7 Professional installed all the updates service packs and software for the SOE. I am now looking to image this desktop and add it to the SCCM Server. We currently have several immages added by a previous Engineer who has departed the company I am confortable using Ghost to do all this this. is my first attempt at using Imagex to do this Is there a precise document on how to do this step by step? if where is it and how can I obtain it please? SCCM is configured and running we are imaging workstation off the current image but wish to add the new one. I need an urgent answer is possible 1 New Latop configured with sotfware and updated 2. Need to create the image from this laptop 3. we can then add this to the SCCM Boot Images folder 4 I just cant seem to get Imagex to do this or I am doing it wrong Regards Pip

You can just use a SCCM capture media to do this (right click task sequences - Create task sequence media - Capture media and follow the wizard. Then burn the ISO to CD and inject it in the machine you want to capture. Alternatively you can use this approach where you use ImageX http://blog.coretech.dk/mip/capture-none-syspreped-image-using-sccm-running-imagex-from-a-ts/ oh, and about adding the image to boot images folder!! you only add winpe images to the boot images, the reference image goes in Operating System Images. and also, i would suggest that you create your reference image from a virtual machine to avoid problems with drivers.. the ideal way to deploy OS is to add the drivers trough the TS, and not the image itself! the recommended method is to use Build and Capture to build your images, on virtual hardware to keep it driver free, below is a guide for doing just that Using SCCM 2007 Sp2 to deploy Windows 7 Deploy 7 (4 parts) if you insist on build your images on real hardware then you'll face a lot of image development and capturing work, plus once you've captured the image you won't be able to easily deploy it to anything other than the same hardware, far better to build and capture and then deploy that captured image to multiple hardware types using wmi detection for the driver steps. if you really cannot tear yourself away from the Ghost way of doing things, then you can capture the image using the methods that Michael describes or use a custom task sequence How can I capture Windows 7 Capturing Windows 7 using a custom task sequence cheers niall My step by step SCCM Guides I'm on Twitter > ncbrady
