Capturing an image of my reference machine. First time ever attempting this. Windows 7 x64.
Hi
I recently setup the 180 day trail to test SCCM in our environment, I have setup a reference computer just the way I like it with all the settings and programs we use. I have installed the SCCM client on the image as well.
I would now like to capture an image of this reference computer I have set up. I have a few questions before I begin.
1. My reference computer shows up in the collections group called "ALL SYSTEMS". I would like to move it to a new collections group that I can give a specific name, is this possible?
2.I created a custom task, under the "OPERATING SYSTEM DEPLOYMENT GROUP" called capture reference computer, I also selected as the boot image (x64). I assume this is winpe and this boots the computer into a Winpe environment allow the capture to begin. Am
I correct?
3. When I click advertise I try to browse to my reference computer which resides in the "ALL SYSTEMS" collection, I am only able to select the whole "ALL SYSTEMS" collection, how do I browse to my reference computer which indeed resides in the "ALL
SYSTEMS" collection?
Any assistance would be helpful as I am just beginning my SCCM adventures and I am feeling a steep learning curve ahead of me.

So, the bigger answer here is that these are all in general ConfigMgr 101 questions and better suited for self-learning from TechNet or a book (or Bing).
1. Collections are not a directory like Active Directory. Systems do not live in any given collection. They are members of a collection based upon the membership rules of the collection and can thus be members of many collections:

2. Most likely. It depends upon your task sequence, but yes in general all task sequences have a WinPE portion. You should probably use the built-in Capture Media when just starting out though:

3. Individual resources cannot be targeted in ConfigMgr, only collections. A collection can have a single member, but you still must target the whole collection.Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | Twitter @JasonSandys

Hi,
For your question 1: Yes, you can create a new collection which contains only your reference computer. Your can take this Technet document as a reference:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb633290.aspx
Question 3: Advertisement is only target to collections ,user groups and users, you can't target it to a specific computer (You can create a new collection which contains all the computers that you want the task sequence runs). Read this Technet
document for an overview of advertisement:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb694110.aspx
Question 2: Yes you are correct. This document will give you an overview of OSD reference computer:
