Capture userdata with USMT 4.0
Hello, guys! Im a bit of a newbee to SCCM but i really hope some of you guys could help me out, Now on my first post i really need some help. I have created a task seqence and been able to get my computers to boot from it. So far so good. Now i have started to work on a task sequece to Capture user settings. I want to save the data on my State migration point, and it have been installed. The task sequence is made to 1 Request SMP 2 Capture user state (USMT 4.0) 3 Release SMP Pretty simple, and i have not intregrated it to my OS deployment TS at this point. I advertise it to my lab computer. and then,,, nothing.. After a while I can see that the Task seq has failed. I have attached the SMSTSlog and i can see there are some errors. But why? Browsing around I’ve come across some solutions (as check the boundary’s and so on) but no luck in my case! thanks in advance! The system runs on a single server SCCM 2007 latest. are you kicking off the task sequence via RAP (run advertised programs) in Windows, as that is how you need to start the capture user state (in windows), otherwise the actions will fail (if in WinPE). the alternative to this is to do offline mode in WinPE but that's currently a workaround situation, see below How can I use Offline Mode in Windows PE using USMT 4 Using a scanstate (using offlinewindir in winpe ) Task Sequence in SCCM 2007 SP2 My step by step SCCM Guides I'm on Twitter > ncbrady

I´m using RAP Yes, The thing is that i haven´t come across the best solution to do this yet so try some different alternative at the moment. Just wanted to see the magic happened when the data was stored on the server. Is offline mode a better solution? I´m working on a project to lift some computers from XP to win7. thank you for quick response!

copying hte data from the computer to the server (smp) is a supported method, offline mode in winpe is not supported but works fine, the difference between the two is one copies the data to the server, the other stores it on the local computer so if its a replace scenario you need the SMP.
