Capture and restore user profile USMT 4.0 problem
Hi everybody again!!! I have a problem with TS for Capture and Restore profiles user using USMT 4.0. I followed this link http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb633286.aspx, the capture was succesfully, but the restore failed. I can see some errors with certificates, but I confirmed that there is a Certificate installed on the machine, even the software updates were succesfully installed on the machine right now through SCCM client. smstslog... Hi Brandon!!! I followed the instructions and now every think is worse than before... For any reason the IIS SSL settings for my WSUS and SCCM sites was changed. Suddenly, My SCCM Reporting Site didn´t work and my WSUS server failed completly. I had to restore the SSL settings on IIS to restore the sites. The TS that was working before aren´t working now. I mean My TS for Deploy image where i got the inicial log. Just doesn´t work any more, Never find the PXE Server. I was testing creating a TS just for Capture Profile and works before the update. For my misfortune the TS for Restore Profile never works. But now i get the error 00004005. This is the new log: Failed to run the last action: Request State Store. Execution of task sequence failed. Hi caludia, Sorry to hear that if you are in a bind you can always open a ticket with PSS. Also are you sure you have installed the hotfix in the above link on your site server's you then will have a client hotfix that gets created during the install that has to be installed on the computer system you are trying to image and there is a ccmcertfix utility that has to be run on that same client system or you will still have problems. I would also suggest a reboot of the server after all of that to make sure everything is ready to go then i would try and reimage the system again. I would also take that computer out of the equation and try another one if that doesnt work just to be sure there isnt a problem with that. If you are still having problems upload all of the logs from the client system so we can have a look. Thanks, BrandonBrandon Linton |http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/brandonlinton/default.aspx | MCTS - SCCM, MDT, AD

Again my apologies for that, Then, I don´t have any problem with de PXE Server. I tested and I can send the deployment image to the client. But I still having the original problem, I can´t capture & restore the user profile. I just reimage Client 1 and doesn´t work. This has the patch, Right???. Because right now the package is updated, and I guess that with the reimaging was installed on client. Thanks Claudia Garca A.

Claudia, What is your scenario? Is this from XP to W7 or Vista to W7 or W7 to W7? Also are you reimaging a machine or replacing an old machine with a new one?

Hi created4success!! My scenario is W7 to W7, my principal Client for the test is Client1. I´m reimaging this one. And I changed the advertising for another collection where is my own machine, i´m calling Client2. Is a diferent machine, but i´m not reimaging this one, I just tested the Capture & Restore Profile TS on it. This is a old machine that I guess don´t have the update on SCCM client. On both of them doesn´t work. Thanks Claudia Garca A.

I wish I could provide some help in your scenario but I am having a problem myself with get USMT to work with W7 to W7; however with my problem from W7 to W7 I'm not getting any errors it just hangs on the restore for the local Administrator. I have also gotten it to work with XP to W7 and what I have seen from both cases is making sure the KB974571 that Niall mentioned is uninstalled on any client involved. That has successfully worked capturing in both scenarios i have tried and with the restore from XP to W7 (however i had to use USMT 3 to get it to work). Another thing I have noticed is that the Computer Assocation must be made prior to you attempting to run the USMT TS. This may not help you but I thought I would share the information that has worked.

I have a couple of domain accounts on there and I recieved no errors when capturing but on the restore it never makes it to the domain accounts because the local admin hangs up first. I have tried using the different variable tasks to exclude local accounts but none of those seem to work.

Hi everybody Again!!! I solved my problem. I write since here because i think that this step was the key. Finally, I´ve reported my problem to Microsoft Support, they helped me y now i want share the solution: Looking on SMP logs they found this: Call to HttpSendRequestSync failed for port 443 with status code 404, text: Not Found. We reinstalled the SMP rol and this solved the problem. We reviewed diferent situations, but in escence this was the solution + to install KB977203 on site server. Claudia Garca A.
