Capture a customized image
Dear All, I am building windows 7 machines with SCCM. But first I need to create a customized image. I want to deploy the operating system and want to do some customizations. Is there any possibility that I can do the customizations and then capture the image at later time? Currently in task sequence I am using capture the reference machine... Kindly guide me how to achieve above?? Thanks in Anticipation.

Yes, you can use SCCM capture media for that. I explain it on my blog also: http://henkhoogendoorn.blogspot.com/2011/03/create-task-sequence-capture-media.html With SCCM capture media it's possible to build a customized WIM image yourself, and it's working great! Make sure the reference computer is no domain member, has no complex password policy and start capture media from Windows. My ConfigMgr blog: http://henkhoogendoorn.blogspot.com Follow me on Twitter: @henkhoogendoorn

Hi, You can use the task sequence you created to install the OS, just disable the capture step and make the changes to the Windows reference computer, and then use capture media to capture the image, more information on using the capture media: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb694129.aspx regards, Jörgen-- My System Center blog ccmexec.com -- Twitter @ccmexec

Ewww, yuck. You really want to manually install or configure something? What happens the next time you have to create or refresh an image? Are you going to manaully install and configure things again? IT is about automation. If you can't automate it, it shouldn't be done. Use a build and capture task sequence and automate the whole thing.Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | Twitter @JasonSandys

Hi Farzan, I see that you have a specific topic created about that one also. language bar customize lost: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrosd/thread/e40d2dce-93b6-4cc7-8792-2cdaba787b7e Because you have created a captured image by now this topic can be closed now. Please select an answer as solution for doing this.My ConfigMgr blog: http://henkhoogendoorn.blogspot.com Follow me on Twitter: @henkhoogendoorn
