Cannot upgrade SSIS 2005 packages to SSIS 2012
Hi, I have installed SQL 2012 on a server os 2008r2. I placed a folder with my 2005 packages along with all extra files such as .sin and dtproj files on that same server (no previous versions of SQL Servers exist on that machine) And so I happily follow the instructions of upgrading by: Starting VS2010 (with BI settings) Select File - Open - Project/Solution and select my .sln file and the wizard starts but it does notupgrade packages as that wizard never starts. If I state to create a BUP I get a list of ssis packages but no indication of them being upgraded. However the .sln file is stated as upgraded but the project file is not and in the solution explorer it only states the project name and (Unavailable) and underneith it says the project file was unloaded. I have tried to do same actions but selecting the .dtproj file and same behaviour. The ssis packages I cannot see in the solution explorer nor does the wizard for converting them ever start. Am I doing something wrong? Version of SQL 2012 is 11.0.2100.60, the RTM version. How am I to go about? Thank you for any help :) HS

"Select File - Open - Project/Solution and select my .sln file and the wizard starts but it does notupgrade packages as that wizard never starts." There is a contradiction in your description :). Could you please post the whole description again? Please mark the post as answered if it answers your question

Hello there, Thank you for your answers. I have read the articles earlier and have actually followed them. I realized today though what the problem was, well I think so. I had placed the ssis files on the same server as the sql2012 installation and this probably caused some confusion for the wizard, allthough it does actually state in the article "5 Tips for a Smooth SSIS Upgrade to SQL Server 2012" to place the files on the server. What I did was I placed the files on a different server that did not have the sql2012 installation and then I pointed to that .sln file when the upgrade wizard started in SSDT on the server where the sql 2012 installation was. Is this perhaps a bug? I also seem to have some difficulties in updating the configurations of datasources: even though I update the xml file (.ds file) it does not seem to apply. If I look at the xml file in SSDT I see the updated information but if i view it in the Designer then the old info is still there... Must also be a bug? DotNetMonster: There are two wizards that are supposed to start in the upgrade one for the project and then one for pointing out the SSIS packages to upgrade. It was the second wizard that never started. Thank you so much for your time :) HS

Hi HS, Configurations are not upgrades. For example, a configuration file may reference an old driver that is not longer used in 2012 so you would have to manually upgrade these. Please refer to the step by step in the link that sathiya.s has provided as below: http://www.bidn.com/blogs/DustinRyan/bidn-blog/2610/upgrade-2005-2008-ssis-packages-to-2012-like-a-boss http://www.sqlservercentral.com/blogs/dknight/2012/05/16/upgrading-packages-to-ssis-2012/ Thanks, EileenPlease remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help.
