Cannot uninstall IIS7, web server role, windows process activation service, etc. from windows server 2008, just keeps reverting
I have already tried running the system update readiness tool which did not seem to help at all.I have no idea what could possibly be the problem. The applicationHost.config file became corrupt somehow. I don't know if any other files are corrupt, but I know this one is. I do not have a backup of the file. I backed up my server farm using stsadm, now I am simply trying to uninstall IIS7 and re-install, but its not happening. Can anyone help me with this problem? Please!!! Thank you!

Hi, Please check the following configuration, then try to uninstall IIS 7. · Make sure the Application Pool account(s) has the “Log on as Batch job” and “Log on as Service” permission. If not, add the Application Pool account(s) to the “Log on as Batch job” and “Log on as Service” user policies on the Domain Controller (Start | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Local Security Policy > Local Policies > User Rights Assignment). · Make sure the users are part of the IIS_IUSRS (Built-in group used by Internet Information Services) group on the local machine. If the steps above can’t resolve your issue, back up the database, uninstall the WSS v3 or SharePoint and IIS, then reinstall IIS, next reinstall WSS V3 or SharePoint, after that run Configuration wizard, restore the database, finally check the effect. In addition, please post the error information in the Event Viewer into the forum for further analyze. Hope this helps. Rock WangRock Wang MSFT
