Cannot start Audit Collector Service
Hi, I installed System Center Operation Manager 2012 Release Candidate. I want to install the ACS Service in order to retrieve login - logoff in my database. I installed ACS Service and database but it always work except for the last step, which is Start AdtServer.
Start AdtServer Service: Failure (0x00000433)
Anybody had this problem? and if so, how do you fix it.
Additional notes : When I try to start the service via Windows, it gives me
error 1075 the dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion

Hi Nicobbq:
That message about "the dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion" indicates an unsuccessful install of the ACS Collector bits on the managment server. I recommend perform an uninstall, then a re-install of the ACS component on the
management server.

I tried uninstalling then reinstalling. No success.
I even rebooted the server to make sure everything was properly uninstalled...
still no success...
I though maybe it was because of the admin rights, but I am indeed a domain admin.

Stop AdtServer Service: Success
Unregister Performance DLL: Success
Unregister Application Log: Success

UnInstall ACS: Failure (0x00000645)
and when I install, this is what happens
Find Source Folder: Success
Create Target Folder: Success
Install ACS: Success
Create AdtServer Service: Success
Write AdtServer Registry Parameters: Success
Write Password: Success
Register Application Log: Success
Register Performance DLL: Success
Register MOF File: Success
Create Data Source: Success
Start AdtServer Service: Failure (0x00000433)
...so everything works fine except AdtServer Service...

After trying to uninstall, see if you have this Registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{B864283C-D805-422D-8FA2-75DAD1577E2C}
This is the registry key for ACS collector on SCOM 2012.
If so try and do a manual uninstall with this command line:
msiexec /X {B864283C-D805-422D-8FA2-75DAD1577E2C} /qnJohn Joyner MVP-SC-CDM

I don't even have that registry key.
I went into the EventLog and now it's telling me that Audit Collector depends on MSSQLServer service and that it cannot be found. I have installed MSSQL and I have a MSSQLServer SCOM.
My head hurts...

If you don't see that registry key, you may not have the correct version of ACS collector installed.
Is this an upgraded SCOM 2012 management server that was running SCOM 2007 R2? Or was this a newly installed SCOM 2012 management server.
The audit collector server will try and connect to the SQL server where the ACS database is located. MSSQLSERVER is the name of a default instance of SQL Server. Is the SQL server where the ACS database is located the same computer that the management
server/ACS collector is installed on?John Joyner MVP-SC-CDM

Does this help?

I realise these relate to SCOM 2007 R2 but the issue might well remain.

According to my event viewer, it tells me that SQLServer service is not installed and it's kind of right...
I don't have MSSQLServer service installed but I have Sql Server (SCOM) - MSSQL$SCOM service instead.
Is there a way of telling the AdtServer service to use MSSQL$SCOM instead of the default MSSQLServer.
Or do I have to install another MSSQLServer...this is slightly confusing.

I checked those already and they don't fit my problem unfortunately :/

By the way, thanks John and Graham for trying to help me, it's appreciated.

Hi Nicobbq:
Sounds like SQL was installed locally on the SCOM computer in an instance named SCOM.
When you install ACS on a management server, you specify the name of the SQL server and instance to be used by the ACS collector.
So perhaps you need to uninstall ACS and re-install. When you re-install, tell ACS setup to use the "<SCOMcomputername>\SCOM" instance of SQL to create the ACS database.

Oh my god! It worked! That was that! I specified my instance name and the ACS collector / Database installed successfully.
The service started! Wonderful! I can't express how much you made my day!
Thanks a lot John!
