Cannot solve WebDAV PreReq (Win2008, SCCM 2007 SP1)
I'm attempting to build a new SCCM environment in adomain that has not had SMS or SCCM installed before. The server being used is running Windows2008, fully patched. It wasan upgrade from Windows2003 (I haven'tyet got 2008 network deployment happening, nor does this machine have a DVD).I have run the pre-requisite checker, and the only remaining pre-req is supposedly WebDAV, which would be fine if it weren't for the fact that I've followed theguideand it still doesn't work.I have: Installed the WebDAVextension for IIS 7.0; Enabled WebDAV; Configured an authoring rule: Allow access to All content; Allow access to this content to All users; Permissions: Read (Checked); Source (not checked); Write(not checked); Configured WebDAV Settings: Allow anonymous property queries: True; Allow Custom Properties: False; Allow property queries with infinite depth: True; Allow hidden files to be listed: True. Furthermore, the IIS6 Metabase, WMI, Scripts and Management tools are all installed and were installed before WebDAV.WebDAV and KB 955137 are installed (that KB being an updated version of WebDAV for IIS 7).WebDAV is correctly registered in applicationHost.config according to this series of posts(which is also enshrined in KB article 956284), or at least the copy of applicationHost.config in the C:\Windows\System32\INetSrv\Config folder. Interestingly it registered fine the first time I installed WebDAV, but the second and subsequent times it did not add its config to that file. The keylog lines from ConfigMgrPrereq.log are:<12-27-2008 02:03:40> TWEETY; IIS service running; Passed<12-27-2008 02:03:40> TWEETY; BITS installed; Passed<12-27-2008 02:03:40> TWEETY; BITS enabled; Passed<12-27-2008 02:03:40> TWEETY; WebDAV installed; Passed<12-27-2008 02:03:40> TWEETY; WebDAV enabled; Error; Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) is required for the management point and distribution point site system roles. If you have selected to install a site rolerequiring WebDAV, and it is not enabled, this rule will fail. Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) is not enabled and/or IIS 6 WMI compatibility component for IIS7 is not installed on the computer specified for management point installation or setup was unable to verify remote IIS settings because IIS common components were not installed on the site server computer. ConfigMgr requires WebDAV to be installed and enabled in Internet Information Services (IIS) for management point site systems. Setup cannot continue.<12-27-2008 02:03:40> ***************************************************<12-27-2008 02:03:40> ******* Prerequisite checking is completed. *******<12-27-2008 02:03:40> ***************************************************Any ideas? I'm at wit's end here, and while that's a pretty short journey for me sometimes, I'd like to think I've done all the investigating I can on this one.Dave.

Did you installRemote Differential Compression?I would run back through this page:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc431377.aspxI followed that last week when I did my first Server 2008 install and it worked flawlessly.John Marcum, Systems Management Architect - www.TrueSec.com

I've been double and triple checking the configuration.I've installed all of IIS 7 apart from FTP. I've confirmed that BITS and Remote Differential Compression are installed.I've removed all the WebDAV authoring rules (applied to "Default Web Site", since I assume that's the right place - there is no other website on this server). Then I added a new WebDAV rule on the Default Web Site, selecting the radio buttons for All content, All Users, and ticking the checkbox for Read.WebDAV options are set as follows (can someone cross-check their own working installation to confirm they're identical?): Allow unknown MIME types: True Default MIME Type: application/octet-stream Allow anonymous property queries: True Allow Custom Properties: False Allow property queries with infinite depth: True Property Store: <blank> Allow hidden files to be listed: True Compatibility: Allow Multiple Property Sections: True Return Compact XML: True Return IsCollection Property: True Return IsHidden Property: True Return MS-Author-Via header: True Require SSL access: False I have not modified applicationHost.config because I don't yet know what blocked file extensions I'll need to change - so I'm leaving that at defaults.Sanka - I'm not sure what, in your first link, you wanted me to check. The only extra item I see in that article is the installation and use of the web redirector which requires Desktop Experience. Rather than install on the server I tried to connect to the server's HTTP DAV from a domain joined Vista client (net use * http://tweety/) - and I get error 59, "An unexpected network error occurred." Is this expected to work? Does this work, from a Vista SP1 client, to other SCCM servers?

Well well. I built a new machine with 2008 directly, followed the same steps and lo, WebDAV works perfectly. There's something in the upgrade process that breaks either WebDAV or SCCM's detection of it.So I'll rebuild the server (I have 2008 network deployment now) and do my install.

I have this exact same problem.- Server 2003 upgraded to 2008- IIS7 with all PreReqs installed including Differential Compression- WebDav 7.5 installed and configured via these steps:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc431377.aspx- Cannot get SCCM to recognize WebDavIs a server rebuild really the only solution?

There's no way I would upgrade the OS on any production server especially from 2003 to 2008 on a server that needs IIS. I assume you have tried uninstalling IIS and webdav and then putting it all back? John Marcum | http://www.TrueSec.com/en/Training.htm | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum

To fix this issue: 1. Right click on the IIS Role in server manager 2. Left click Add Role Services 3. Put a tick in IIS 6 WMI Compatibility under Management Tools/IIS 6 Management Compatibility. 4. Put a tick in ASP.Net under Application Development 5. Click next to install 6. Rerun check. Regards James Loker-Steele http://www.lokersteele.co.uk/
