Cannot run zip software as restricted user
Win XP Pro running SteadyState with restricted 'student' accounts. I cannot run 7zip or PKZIP under a restricted account unless it is done using the "Run As" option (as Admin) which is not an acceptable solution. I attempted using "Runas" with savecred even after hearing the warnings but the computer refuses to memorize the password. I also attempted installing the software in the restricted account's My Documents folder to see if it was attempting to edit one of its own program files but it did not work. I have searched the forums here but have found no similar issues involving compression software and SteadyState. Any help is appreciated, and just give a yell if you require more information from me. Thanks

Hi, When you set “High restrictions” for user in Windows Restrictions, user cannot use any third party programs. If you want user to user any programs, you should remove some restrictions: 1 Prevent programs in the All Users folder form appearing 2 Remove the Set Program Access and Defaults icon 3 Prevent access to Windows Explorer features: Folder Options, Customize Toolbar, and the Notification Area 4 Allow only programs in the Program Files and Windows folders to run Hope that helps. Of the four settings you listed the following were previously set to: 1. OFF 2. ON 3. ON 4. OFF After turning all four options OFF the software still failed to load/run properly. When attempting to run zip software I receive a standard windows error: "PKZIP for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for..." I can post the error report if you like, it seems to point at ntdll.dll . Keep in mind all this is solved by doing run as administrator and this problem has only manifested itself with zip software. Any ideas?
