Cannot run executable as SYSTEM from SCCM, runs fine as elevated admin user
Trying to install a small Outlook plugin (Taleo Outlook Toolbar). I've run the .exe as an elevated user, and the software installs. When I then put it into SCCM and deploy (downloads locally to the machine, and runs from there), nothing happens. Well, the .exe runs, but there is no UI (even running with silent and set to be visible to the user) and nothing gets created in the directory in Program Files. The process shows as running under Task Manager, and will stay that way until the default 120min timeout specified in SCCM. The last thing execmgr.log shows is: Raised Program Started Event for Ad:LDC20343, Package:LDC002B8, Program: Install Taleo Toolbar 2.1.5.1001 It looks as though this executable doesn't like to be run as System. I tried extracting the contents of the .exe, but there was nothing useful like an MSI. I also used AppDeploy Repackager to monitor the changes to the system, and then deployed the resulting MSI instead. I must have missed something though, because although that ran fine, the plugin didn't actually appear in Outlook :( Can anyone suggest a way around this?

Hi, In some scenarios I use a Task Sequence to run this kind of installers, and use the "Run Command Line" step which if you use SCCM 2007 R2/R3 you can use a service accoutn run the installation. Then the installation runs as a local admin(of course the user you add as the account to run the command must be local admin) and the installation should work. I would try that..
