Cannot removed folder from Deleted Items (nested Contacts folders)

Hi All,

One of my user have a very specific problem. Probably some third part software made a recurrence on folder Contacts in Outlook. I saw that he have Contacts -> Kontakzt -> Contacts ..... (and it goes deeper and deeper). I find the way how to remove it from contacts but right now using OWA I see it in deleted Items but I cannot remove it. When I tried to do this I get: This folder cannot be deleted.

I tried to remove it using outlook 2010 , 2013, OWA, MFCMapi every each application has an different error when I am trying to do it. Cause I am not able to delete this folders and all this nested things I or better to say user cannot use Outlook Cache mode it is saying that is not enough memory to do this.

Do you have any ideas what I can do cause my last idea is to remove mailbox from server and create new one I hope so you have better ideas.

Thank you in advance,

Best Regards,

Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,

Is there any items in this folder? If there are any items in this folder, please delete the items one by one in OWA to have a try.

If the folder is empty, please move a items from Delete Items folder to this empty folder, then remove this folder from Delete Items folder in OWA to have a try.

If all fails, please move this mailbox to another database and try to remove this folder in OWA again to check whether the issue continues.

Hello Winnie,

In this folder you have another folder inside. Inside this folder you have another folder

Contacts

     Kontaktz

          Contacts

                Kontaktz

etc...

But you had a good idea which I used before I read your post. Using the OWA I expand folder tree down 20 levels then I move the most deeper folder to the top and I removed the rest of the folders. So I had to repeat this action 10 or 15 times. After that I was able to remove rest of folders.

As I check the directory tree had 738 levels down.

Right now everything back to normal. Thanks for your support so you can mark my answer as an answer :)

Best Regards,

Sebastian,
