Cannot open explorer view in SP 2007 using IE8 on XP SP3 machine
Hi, I have a colleague who cannot open explorer view in SharePoint 2007 team or mysites, he's got IE8 8.0.6001 XP SP3. We have tried re starting webclient, placing the mysite url in his IE trusted zone and internet zone. I have been unable to locate the protected mode check box in IE8 highlighted in other forums, it appears in my IE8 but not his. IE displayed the following error message Webpage error details User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; MS-RTC LM 8; InfoPath.3) Timestamp: Thu, 23 Dec 2010 14:18:31 UTC Message: Element not found. Hi Isvsco, · User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; MS-RTC LM 8; InfoPath.3) This shows that your User-Agent string is corrupt. The simplest solution is to re-install your IE. Also you can check this thread: http://www.technologyquestions.com/technology/internet-explorer/405765-ms-ie-8-not-add-search.html.
