Cannot get the 'Signature' node error when retrieving policy on OSD

Environment:

SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 CU1; PKI; Single Primary site

Server 2012 R2

SQL 2012 SP2

So, since upgrading to SP1 and CU1 I have some anomalies when imaging desktops/laptops.  The problem i'm having is that it's inconsistent.

I get the error titled above followed by a 'failed to request policy 80004005'.  This occurs after you've entered in the password to be able to choose Task Sequences.

I used the answer in:

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/a785b8e4-ebd8-4c02-95cd-2f2360ff0a24/failed-to-request-policy-assignments-code-0x80004005?forum=configmanagergeneral#bd3fae93-e6b1-4f80-8906-b5b3102ba691

When I ran it, i initially found some bad policies and removed them but the issue has continued.  the strange part is that i can reboot a machine after it fails and it could fail again or it could get policy and I can pick a TS and start imaging just fine.

Not seeing any errors in my MPControl.log, SMSPXE doesn't reveal anything either.  Any direction would be helpful!

Hi,

Are you deploying to unknown computers? If that is the case, do these computers appear in Unkown Computers collection?

(If these computers appear, please delete a record for test.)

Set the CreatedUnknownDDR value under the key SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SMS\COMPONENTS\SMS_DISCOVERY_DATA_MANAGER to 0. (To properly recreate the Unknown objects on the Primary site)

Restart the SMS_Executive server and monitor the DDM.log and confirm that it do not think the Unknown objects existed so it recreates them.

Then try to PXE boot again.
