Cannot delete .usage files, the file is used by SharePoint 2010 Timer

The .usage files in the log folder is not been deleted by the Timer Sevice. The log files grows and the c-disk is soon full. According to the log file, The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. Ive uninstalled KB2775511, according to this post http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/e8af5657-7ca4-4ae7-bbe8-9609bb341ca8/usage-data-import-job and that made the problem disappeare. BUT that is not a good solution as KB2775511 is a big fix rollup and the IT operation doesnt accept it to uninstall it permanently. Is there another solution avaible on the prob

Hi,

As a workaround, you can manually delete the usage log files. De-active Report feature in the site collection feature. Also, disable the following timer jobs:

Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Usage Data Import

Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Usage Data Processing

There may be a lag time. Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS\ and delete Customer Usage logs. After that, enable the Timer jobs and active the Report feature again.

Thanks.

This is not a solution. Is there anybody how knows which of the 90 updates from KB 2775511 that is the cause of the problem?

It looks the December 2013 CU fixes the issue, but if you can't get that deployed quickly you can create a timer job that recycles the timer service, releasing the files for clean up. Please see:
