Hi everyone, I don't know the cause of this problem but maybe you should try first delleting all documents that have that kinds of content, and then inherit the content type. Let me know if this works. Regards, Fabiola Muñoz C.

Having the same problem So, after Binging (head on the wall) for a while, I found that on the associated database ( WSS_Content for most cases ) there is a table called ContentTypes, with column NextChildByte. On that table I found two rows for ContentType XYZ, one for each Site Collection. One had NextChildByte=5, the other (the one for the Site Collection where the error would fire) had NextChildByte=3 Against all Microsoft recommendations, I set both to 5 using TSQL. Next, I managed to create the new child ContentType, which set the second row's NextChildByte to 6, while the other remained 5. Obviously, when I went to the other Site Collection to create a new ContentType just for a test, the error showed up again. Making out that the problem arises when two or more Site Collections share the same Database, I suggest deploying each on a different Database using the following PowerShell: Move-SPSite url -DestinationDatabase name. However, this is impracticable with MySites. If anyone know of a definite solution ...? Moderator Note: NEVER propose your own post as answer. Propose the good answers of other people - not your own.
