1. are you able to connect to your SQL instance from your Sharepoint server? 2. Is the password of the sharepoint service account working? 3. Is the configuration Database available on the database server? 4. Any Port blocking/IP change/ DNS change/ Antivirus etc that may affect the communicationbetween the two. 5. Finally a network trace and connectivity check would help. Network trace can bedone through Microsoft Network Monitor tool and for connectivity, you can use the method below: TEST the connection: Create a blank text file and change the extension from .txt to .UDL Double click to Open and click on Provider Tab, Select "Microsoft OLEDB Provider for SQL Server" and click Next On Connection tab, Type SQL SERVER Name in the "use data source name" and click refresh. Use Authentication type click on "test connection" button and the connection should Succeed. Also, you should see the databases on SQL server when you expand the dropdown "Select the database on the server".I LOVE MS..... Hi Ahmad, Have you recently tried to install any patches for WSS? Anyway, run SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard and do an IISReset. Does it cure? Also check this link & try out: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823287/en-us Hope this resolves your issue.BR, PM

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/823287/en-us In this link in method 3 i did not find the enterprise manager in SQL Server. Because i am using SQL Server 2005. What should i do in SQL Server 2005?

Actually that article belongs to WSS 2.0. So, yes, for you it will be SQL Server Management Studio and not Enterprise manager (which belongs to SQL Server 2000).BR, PM

Back to basics - 1) Whats your Operating System where SharePoint 3.0 is installed? 2) Is the SQL Server installed on the same Server? 3) Is SQL Server running now? Are you able to use SQL Enterprise Manager and connect to the SQL Server? Thanks & Regards, Kamlesh | Blog | Twitter | Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
